Privacy policy
Magnecat has no account and no sign-in, and your progress stays on your iPhone. The game sends anonymous gameplay statistics, shows ads from Google and sells optional items through the App Store. This page says exactly what each of them handles and what you can switch off.

Who we are
Magnecat is made by Crowmill. For any question about this policy or your data, write to hello@crowmill.com.
What stays on your iPhone
- Your progress: the level you are on, stars, coins, boosters, daily gifts and settings.
- Items you have bought, so the game can keep them unlocked.
- A random identifier the game creates on first launch. It is not linked to you, your Apple Account or your device's advertising identifier.
Progress is not backed up or synced to another device. Deleting the game deletes all of it; a new install starts with a new identifier. Items you bought can be restored from the App Store.
Anonymous gameplay statistics
While you play, Magnecat sends short records of game events to our analytics service:
- levels started, won, lost or left, with the number of moves, stars and seconds played;
- boosters used, coins spent, second chances and daily gifts taken;
- ads offered and watched, and items bought, once the game has them;
- when a play session starts and ends.
Each record carries the random identifier above, the game version, the language, the iPhone model, your current level and coins, the session number and the number of days since you first opened the game. It contains no name, email, contacts, photos, location or advertising identifier.
The statistics are stored by PostHog in its European Union cloud. The service is set up to discard IP addresses and not to work out your city or country. We use the statistics only to find levels that are too hard or too easy, to balance the game and to fix problems. We do not sell them or share them with anyone else, and we keep them only as long as they help improve the game.
Advertising
From version 1.0, Magnecat shows ads from Google AdMob: short videos you choose to watch for a reward, and full-screen ads between levels. To show and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google receives information from your iPhone such as the IP address, the device model and system version, the language, and how you interact with the ads. How Google uses it is explained in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- Personalised ads only with your consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the game asks for consent with Google's consent message before any ads are loaded. On iPhone the game also asks Apple's permission to track; only if you allow it does Google receive your device's advertising identifier.
- Saying no still works. If you decline, you still see ads, but they are not based on your activity in other apps and websites.
- You can change your mind. Privacy settings in the game's settings reopen the consent choices. Tracking permission can be changed in the iPhone's Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Any purchase in the game turns off the full-screen ads between levels for good. The optional reward videos stay available.
We ask Google to show only ads suitable for a general audience.
Purchases
From version 1.0, Magnecat sells optional items, such as coins and removing ads, through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details or your Apple Account. Apple gives us aggregated, anonymised sales reports.
Why we may use your data
For visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the legal grounds are:
- your consent for personalised ads and tracking;
- our legitimate interest in improving the game with anonymous statistics, in paying for a free game with non-personalised ads and in preventing fraud;
- performing our agreement with you when we deliver an item you have bought.
Where the data goes
Statistics stay in PostHog's European Union cloud. Google and Apple may process data in other countries, including the United States, under their own safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, for its correction or deletion, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent at any time. Write to hello@crowmill.com. Because the statistics carry no name or contact details, deleting the game is the simplest way to stop them. If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Residents of US states with privacy laws, such as California: we do not sell personal information. Personalised ads may count as sharing it for cross-context behavioural advertising; to opt out, decline personalised ads in the game's privacy settings or do not allow tracking.
Children
Magnecat is made for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; the statistics described above contain none.
Changes
If a new version changes what the game sends or who receives it, we will update this page before that version is released.
